FURIA EC020 - Firmware Changes v15.3/29.06.2026
======================================================================

Changes
-------

The entire firmware has been completely rewritten from scratch while
preserving all existing functionality.

The internal logic has been optimized and simplified to fit within the
available resources of the Xilinx CPLD.

What has been changed
---------------------

- The startup sequence now accurately follows the 2 us timing window
after the MC68EC020 processor starts, exactly as required by the
GAYLE chip. After RESET and HALT are released by GAYLE, the first
Address Strobe (AS) is generated exactly within the 2 us timing
window - neither earlier nor later.

- DTACK synchronization and GAYLE-generated Wait States have been
adjusted to match the timing of the original MC68000 processor.

- IDE interface timing has been improved. Chip Select (CS) generation
now follows the Intel ISA timing specification more accurately.

- The IDE Speed feature has been optimized and can increase read
performance up to 6 MB/s, depending on the performance of the
connected IDE device. The feature is compatible with most
  CompactFlash and SD cards.

- Fixed MapROM (Overlay) when mapping external ROM images from files.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
======================================================================

Q: After using my Amiga for some time, I reboot it and get a Red Screen
with a blinking Power LED (Red Flag). Why?

A: The accelerator is most likely overheating due to insufficient
cooling of the CPU or memory.

This usually occurs when Kickstart is mapped into FastRAM using the
MapROM feature. Make sure your Amiga 600 case has adequate airflow
   and cooling.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: I want to use IDE Speed. What do I need?

A: No additional driver is required in the default configuration.

Typical performance improvement ranges from 20% to 50%.

For even better performance, it is recommended to replace the
original scsi.device with version 43.47 (COSMOS). Depending on the
storage device, performance improvements of up to 120% are possible.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which CompactFlash cards are recommended for reliable operation?

A: In the past, Furia was more sensitive to IDE storage devices.

The current firmware is compatible with approximately 99% of all
   CompactFlash cards.

Some SD cards may still have compatibility issues. In most cases,
this depends on the quality of the CF-to-SD adapter.

If an SD card does not work correctly in the adapter on a PC, it is
very unlikely to work reliably on the Amiga.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which IDE adapter should I use with CompactFlash cards?

A: There is no strict hardware requirement. Most inexpensive CF IDE
   adapters work without problems.

For maximum reliability, I designed the IDE LeyLines adapter. It
features buffered IDE signals and supports two CompactFlash cards
   simultaneously.

Both cards are fully compatible with IDE Speed mode. The adapter was
specifically designed to provide maximum data transfer reliability.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Some demos and games freeze while loading from floppy disks.

A: Furia uses the available SlowRAM address space, but it is not a
complete 100% SlowRAM implementation because DMA is not supported.

As a result, some demos and floppy-based games may fail to load or
   run correctly.

In most cases, the problem does not occur when using WHDLoad.
